PACIS 2024 Doctoral Student Corner

The AIS Doctoral Student College will host several in-person events as part of this year’s PACIS 2024 Doctoral Student Corner. We have developed these events to help doctoral students make the most of the conference by providing opportunities to gain advice from experienced faculty and to build relationships with others in our field. These events are free and do not require registration!

Welcome Reception & Social:

  • Tuesday, July 2
  • Time:  17:00 – 18:00 VNT, Venue: Conference Room, 8F

This event will be our official welcome reception for the Doctoral Student Corner. During this hour, three early career faculty members will present for 10 minutes each about their experiences completing their PhD and entering the job market. A moderator will lead discussions on related topics, such as navigating academia and developing collaborations. Students will then have 15 minutes to ask the panelists questions. To encourage networking, the reception will allow attendees to introduce themselves and discuss research interests.

Junior Faculty attending:

  • Dr. Cheuk Hang Au, Edith Cowan University
  • Dr. Duy Dang, RMIT Vietnam
  • Dr. Yvonne Hong, Victoria University of Wellington

Faculty Roundtables:

  • Wednesday, July 4
  • Time:  16:00-17:30 VNT, Venue: Ballroom B, 5F

Students will engage in roundtable discussions on the topic “Being prepared to be next-generation academicians.” As future academicians, most of us stand at a curious juncture point where we have a dilemma about the appropriate use of technology in conducting our research, publishing our work, collaborating, and preparing ourselves to teach next-gen students. Esteemed Faculty mentors will guide discussions, allowing exploration of areas of interest.

Faculty Leaders attending:

  • Professor Carol Hsu, The University of Sydney Business School
  • Professor Andrew Burton-Jones, University of Queensland
  • Professor Suprateek Sarker, University of Virginia
  • Professor Wai Fong Boh, Nanyang Technological University
  • Professor Manju Ahuja, University of Louisville

Student Hangout & Conclusion:

  • Friday, July 5
  • Time:  10:30 – 12:00 VNT, Venue: Ballroom B, 5F

This will be our closing event for the Doctoral Student Corner. This casual and relaxed gathering provides an opportunity to reflect on the conference, share experiences, and bid farewell to your newfound friends and colleagues.

We look forward to welcoming you to the PACIS 2024 Doctoral Student Corner and making this experience memorable and enriching for all participants!
